A diamond solitaire wedding ring, is it OK?
neonbaby asked:
Hi,
Is there anything wrong by getting a “diamond solitaire” wedding ring?
I want something more fancy for my wedding ring,as my engagement ring is just a plain ring. I’m not planning to wear a matching engagement/wedding ring set. Can I just get a diamond solitaire wedding ring?

A friend told me that by wearing a diamond solitaire ring, people would think that I’m engaged and never married. A diamond solitaire ring is for engagement, but not wedding. Is that true?

If your engagement ring is plain, and you want to get a single diamond for your wedding ring, I think the two would balance out well. People would probably think the solitare was your engagement ring and the plain one your wedding ring, but who cares! It’s completely up to you and what you want!
Why not get the solitare and wear them both? Your friend is right in what people will think, but does that matter? What matters is what you want. You can do whatever makes you happy.
you can do whatever you want..i personally don’t like bands…but ya know, they are traditional. I think it would be ok just to have the solitaire.
yes thats true…the diamond solitare is usually used for the engagement ring..you can have a band full of diamonds for your wedding ring though!
Usually the engagement ring is the fancier of the two, but you can have whatever ring you like.
What’s wrong with people thinking you’re engaged? Either way, you’re already taken!
If they ask to see your engagement ring, you can politely correct them and say it’s your wedding ring.
Also, you don’t have to buy the engagement ring and wedding ring in a set. Any two rings can be joined together, and even if they’re different colors (e.g., one yellow or rose gold, and the other white gold), two-tone rings are pretty popular these days.
If you go to a good jeweler that has its own goldsmiths, you might be surprised what they can do to mate the original engagement ring with your solitaire wedding ring and make them match. Even if you decide you want something fancier than the engagement ring, you could have the jeweler melt down the original engagement ring and make a custom-designed wrap or ring to go with your wedding solitaire.
I have never heard of that, and the solitaires are always listed as engagement rings, but you can do whatever you like. I have a diamond solitaire engagement ring and am getting a plain white gold band to go with it. It depends on personal preference. Be prepared for people to think the solitaire is your engagement ring.
I had a friend who told her husband she just wanted a diamond solitaire ring and no band, but she said she was married for 3 months and people were still asking her when she was getting married, so she got the band too!
what your friend said is true. a diamond solitaire ring means you are engaged. if you are wearing that, people will be asking you when the wedding is. you should get that as a engagement ring, and then you should get a wedding band to wear along with it.
